Swimming

Last week I headed to London Fields lido to shoot some swimming.

I wouldn't normally have chosen to shoot sport but it was the theme for a Magnum/IdeasTap brief, and I figured it would be a good challenge to do something different.

I liked the idea of shooting someone who does sport on a regular basis, but is not an athlete. I wasn't looking for bulging muscles and super-human strength, but wanted to show a more typical engagement with exercise. Here are the results:
It didn't win but it was a good exercise in thinking about how I would tackle a brief, then putting a plan into action and comparing the results. If you're interested check out the winning images here.

"Sausages that make you smile"

Bare Cherry Tree (as seen by Kodak Brownie Junior)

Early this year i discovered an old Kodak Six-20 Brownie Junior Super Model (to give it its full name) at my house in Cyprus. Considering they stopped making these little beauties in 1940, I figured it must have been my grandfather's. Below are some of my first photos from the camera, just testing out focusing distance and how light-proof it is. As you can see, some serious light leaks, but I still love this camera. I've started on some portraits, I think they'll work nicely.
